CHENNAI: Looking to be unperturbed by the exit of an MLA, AIADMK-PTA leader O Panneerselvam on Sunday called the statement on merger talks made by EPS camp a hypocritical act to hoodwink the public.

Addressing a meeting of AIADMK-PTA workers held in Kancheepuram, he said that his party had resolved to carry forward the war of dharma, which would the take the shape of a full-fledged people’s movement, to get justice over the death of late CM Jayalalithaa and liberate the party from the clutches of V K Sasikala’s family.

“We will continue to wage the war of dharma and will seek justice over the death of our leader Amma”, he said. He added, “The aim of starting the party will be achieved on October 17, the day of MGR centenary celebrations. The Prime Minister will take part in the event.”

Charging that corruption was rampant in all departments of the government which is being run in the name of Amma, Panneerselvam said the government owed a reply to film-maker Kamal Hasan’s charges. “Intimidating and threatening the actor is not fair on the part of ministers and government. They should respond to his charges,” he stressed.

Panneerselvam expressed hope that AIADMK-PTA would be able to provide a better governance on the lines of Jayalalithaa soon in Tamil Nadu.

OPS transferred land day before sale?

Theni: In a new twist to the giant well saga of former CM O Panneerselvam, now it has come to light that the land was transferred to another person a day before Panneerselvam assured to sell it to Lakshmiapuram villagers. When the villagers were facing water scarcity, they found out that a giant well was dug out in the land belonging to Panneerselvam’s wife Vijayalakshmi.

Panneerselvam organised talks with the members of the village committee in which he agreed to sell the land to the villagers on July 13. When the villagers were collecting money to purchase the land, and approached the registrar’s office to get details about the land, they found out that the land documents were transferred from Vijayalakshmi’s name to one Subburaj of the same village on July 12.

As Subburaj agreed to sell the land and refused to sell the well in the land, there was a quarrel between villagers and Subburaj. When the supporters of Subburaj allegedly threatened villagers, they lodged a complaint.
