E.Palaniswami urges NABARD to provide more loans for SHGs

Chief Minister  urged the National  Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development  to increase loans for women Self Help Groups in the state.

CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami urged the National  Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to increase loans for women Self Help Groups in Tamil Nadu and also provide funds for establishing units to produce ‘Neera’ drink on Wednesday.  

Participating in the 36th foundation day celebrations of  NABARD, he said Tamil Nadu was the State which received the highest quantum of loans (upto Rs 2,000 crore) for rural infrastructure development fund. He said the State government had sought additional assistance from NABARD for ‘Kudimaramathu’ works and for improving water resources.  With this assistance, nearly 41,000 irrigation structures could be renovated.
