Driver killed as car falls into gorge in Tamil Nadu; five students injured

One person was killed and five students escaped with injuries when a car in which the latter were proceeding to their school fell into a 100-foot gorge at Lovedale. 

UDHAGAMANDALAM: One person was killed and five students escaped with injuries when a car in which the latter were proceeding to their school fell into a 100-foot gorge at Lovedale near here today.

Twenty-five-year-old Gilbert, who was driving the car with the five students of a private school, lost control of the vehicle as it plunged into the gorge on the ghat road, police said.

He was killed on the spot.

The students, including two girls, were seriously injured and admitted to the Government Hospital here.

District Collector Innocent Divya visited the students at the hospital, police said.

Three students, including the girls, who were seriously injured, were shifted to the Government Hospital in Coimbatore.
