A BJP youth functionary was hacked in full public view in Ambur by a three-member gang on Monday.

VELLORE: A BJP youth functionary was hacked in full public view in Ambur by a three-member gang on Monday. Ambur Town Police have detained two persons in connection with the incident.
Police sources said Sankar from Azhagapuri in Sanangkuppam is a realtor, who is also the  president of BJP youth wing of Ambur town.

Around 11 pm on Monday, he was hacked with knives while going on a two-wheeler to his office in Ambur from Sanangkuppam. As he was entering Indira Nagar, he was intercepted by the gang and hacked with knives. He received cut injuries at the neck, chest, hands and waist.
He fell in a pool of blood on the road. Onlookers alerted the police and he was rushed to the Vellore Government Medical College hospital for treatment.

As tension spread across Ambur town, DIG R Tamil Chandran, and Superintendent of Police Pakalavan, rushed the spot. Besides, security has been tightened across Ambur town and armed reserve police deployed in sensitives places. Ambur Town Police registered a case and detained two persons in connection with the incident.

Police officials said it could be the fallout of previous enmity over some financial transactions.
However, the motive of the murder attempt is yet to be ascertained, and investigation is on, the police sources said.
