Thirunavukkarasar who? says EVKS Elangovan

There seems to be no end in sight for the fight between the president of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) and his predecessor EVKS Elangovan who on Wednesday said he did not know the former.

CHENNAI: There seems to be no end in sight for the fight between the president of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) S Thirunavukkarasar and his predecessor EVKS Elangovan who on Wednesday said he did not know who the former was, triggering a fresh war of words between the two.

Talking to reporters after greeting MK Stalin on his 65th birthday, Elangovan, a ruthless critic of his successor in recent days, sarcastically said, “I don’t know who Thirunavukkarasar is.” He said so when a reporter was beginning to ask a question referring Thirunavukkarasar’s name.

He also alleged that the TNCC president supported displaying of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s portrait in government offices and functions.

Thirunavukkarasar, who had been maintaining that comments from his predecessor did not warrant any response, reacted to the fresh barb by saying that it augured well for him.

“If he does not know me, he may not attack me hereafter because people will normally prefer not to attack those not known to them,” he told reporters.
