‘Students’ safety will be ensured’

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday assured  that steps would be taken to ensure the safety of students from Tamil Nadu doing higher studies in other States.

CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday assured  that steps would be taken to ensure the safety of students from Tamil Nadu doing higher studies in other States.
Responding to a special mention raised by the DMK member R Rajendran and others during zero hour about the suicide of J Muthukrishnan, a Jawaharlal Nehru University PhD student from Arisipalayam, Salem district, the chief minister explained the steps taken by the State to bring the mortal remains of Muthukrishnan. The State had granted `3 lakh solatium to the bereaved family.

At present, Vasant Vihar police station in New Delhi was probing the case, the CM said. Rajendran said last year, G Saravanan, a PG student of AIIMS from Tamil Nadu died under mysterious circumstances and later, the case was converted as ‘murder case’.
