CHENNAI: In an effort to help people before they invest their hard-earned money in financial establishments (FEs), the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State police has launched an interactive messaging service application.
This test-run app version can furnish information about any FE, including details like criminal case pending with the wing and details of the case if any; whether the company is authorised by the RBI with the licence status; and whether it is registered with the Registrar of Companies, along with the CIN (Challan Identification Number) and present status.
In the first phase of the test-run, the app will be functional on working days between 10 am and 6 pm. In the second phase, it will operate 24x7 and will be more adaptive in adjusting to spelling errors in the company name, a press release stated.
However, this is only an advisory service to caution the public, which does not give any assurance on the quality or reputation of any company.
