Tamil Nadu board exams see 92.1 per cent passing class 12

The results of Class XII and SSLC exams were announced by Tamil Nadu today and as decided earlier, the state has not released the list of toppers this year.

CHENNAI: The result of the class 12th board exams were released on Friday and saw an overall increase from 2016, with a 92.1 pass percentage.

Girls seemed to have the upper hand with 94.5 pass percentage while boys had 89.3 per cent. 

Virudhnagar beat all other districts with 97.85 per cent of students passing while Chennai, with 92.99 pass percentage stood 16th in the list. 

No school in Chennai, Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram achieved 100 per cent pass result. 

The total number of individual centum in subjects put together has increased from 15, 258 in 2015 to 25,435 this year.

While nobody had secured a centum in language, 187 students secured a centum in physics, 1,123 in Chemistry, 3,656 in Mathematics and 1,647 in Computer Science.

The overall passing percentage is 92.1%. The girls have again outperformed the boys with the passing percentage of 94.5% compared to 89.3% of boys.

In terms of district-wise results, Virudu Nagar bags first place with 97.85%. Chennai secured 14th place in the list (92.77%), with none of its schools securing 100%. 

This year too, nobody has been awarded centum in language whereas, there has been a spike in the number of students bagging centums in computer science.
