CHENNAI: A 23-year-old BSc graduate nabbed a chain snatcher who tried to pull her gold chain and cell phone when she was walking back home in Thiruvottiyur on Sunday night. Police said P Meena of Periyar Nagar in Thiruvattioyur attended a birthday function in the nearby locality.
“On Sunday night, she was walking alone back home. As she was nearing her house, two motorbike-borne men spotted her. The pillion rider tried to snatch her gold chain, but she pushed him away and yelled. In a few seconds, he tried to snatch her cell phone and this time too, she pushed him down.
Hearing her screams, the public helped to nab the suspect, while his associate fled,” said a police personnel. The suspect, identified as Babu, a mason, from Rajaji Nagar, was handed over to the Thiruvottiyur police station.
