VELLORE: As many as 1,026 officers and personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force was dedicated into service at a grand Passing Out Parade held at the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Regional Training Centre (RTC) near Arakkonam on Monday. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh accepted the guard of honour presented by the officers, took the salute and reviewed the Passing Out Parade.

About 25 assistant commandants/probationers of 31st batch, 292 sub inspectors/executives of 43rd batch and 708 assistant sub  inspectors/executives of 8th batch passed out on the day.Rajnath Singh congratulated the trainees for their well synchronised parade with high standards. “CISF plays a vital role at airports and it is an achievement that after them taking over the charge of security at airports, no untoward incident has occurred at these centres,” he said.He congratulated the officers and personnel, who had achieved the President’s police medal for distinguished and meritorious services.

He also commended the officers and trainers of CISF for their excellent performance in imparting training. Later, he presented trophies to the best trainees of all courses.In his address, CISF Director General O P Singh emphasised the role of CISF in protecting the vital installation and government buildings. “The CISF is observing 2017 as the ‘Year of Training’. Our training centres are successfully imparting training to a large number of trainees, even beyond their earmarked capacity.

The force has embarked on nurturing qualities such as discipline, turnout, physical fitness and tactical soundness among its people,” he said.During the training, trainees had acquired skills in a wide array of subjects, ranging from indoor subjects like industrial security, security of buildings, monuments and vital installations, intelligence and surveillance, aviation security, IS duties, fire prevention and fire fighting, human Rights, VIP security, forensic science, law, science and technology, modern electronic security gadgets, computers, human behaviour, the CISF Act and Rules etc. They have also been imparted strenuous training on the handling of sophisticated weapons, drill movements apart from physical training.

The CISF women personnel performed demonstrations of rappelling, handling multiple attacks at airports and a one minute drill on the occasion to showcase their skills .
