CHENNAI: Denying the opposition charge that the Centre was interfering in the affairs of the State, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the party had come to power in 70 per cent of the country, with 13 Chief Ministers and four Deputy Chief Ministers, with the support of the people of those States. “The Central government does not interfere in the affairs of any State.

Everywhere we have won, it is with the support and blessings of the State concerned. Whether it is in Manipur or Uttar Pradesh or any other part of the country, this is very well known,” Prasad said on Saturday while speaking to the media after paying homage to the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at her memorial here. When asked about the inquiry commission to be formed to probe Jaya’s death, he said “I can’t comment on that.

It is for the AIADMK to take a call.” Paying rich encomiums on Jayalalithaa, Prasad recalled working with her closely when he was in charge of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit and as a union minister. “She was a leader of great courage and great vision. She was a great nationalist on the issue of terrorism, cross border terrorism, and was very frank that strong action should be taken,” he said.

‘Not stifling TTV’s meet’
