PUDUCHERRY: Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi has accused Chief Minister V Narayanasamy of threatening her, as well as the media, for bringing out her opinions on several incidents. This comes a day after Narayanasamy threatened to file defamation charges against Bedi for maligning the ruling party. The cold war between the leaders intensified after the CBI opened a probe into an alleged medical admission scam, shortly after Bedi inspected the admission process at CENTAC and called for an inquiry.

In a social media post, Bedi accused the Chief Minister of trying to intimidate herself and the media. She said the case against six senior officials proved that members of the government were involved. “Instead of asking the Chief Secretary for an explanation, the CM has taken to intimidation.”
Commenting how an honest person can stop a wrong deed even before it is committed, the L-G opined that the elected posts should also be subject to self appraisal. People should also be able to file writ petitions for the same.

The L-G further said that people have rights to know the performance of the person elected by them very year. The elected officials may upload details of the work done by them and also ask for feedback from the public, she said. Replying to Bedi, Narayanasamy had said that after discussions, the Congress would organise protests against Bedi, as she was defaming the ruling party.

Alleging a scam in the medical college admissions, CBI had filed a case against six senior officials in the government, and 13 private college management officials. This action was taken after Bedi inspected the admission process at CENTAC and requested an inquiry. This has led to a controversy, and also further fuelled the cold war between the L-G and the ruling party, who have been on the loggerheads for some time now.

Honest replies

The L-G had recently asked officials to be honest in their replies during the inquiry into the CENTAC case, and asked that they name those responsible. This irked the ‘rulers’, who assumed she was trying
to link them to the scam.
