‘Hide and seek’ game ends up in 11-yr-old’s murder

A simple game of hide and seek by a 11-year-old boy led to his murder in Nanjikkottai village panchayat located in the suburbs of Thanjavur. A 22-year-old youth was arrested on Tuesday in this regard.

THANJAVUR: A simple game of hide and seek by a 11-year-old boy led to his murder in Nanjikkottai village panchayat located in the suburbs of Thanjavur. A 22-year-old youth was arrested on Tuesday in this regard. According to police, K Sivakumar of Pappa Nagar in Nanjikkottai on September 24, filed a boy missing case with Tamil University police saying his son Kishore, a Class VI student, had been playing near the house on the previous evening but went missing.

Based on the complaint, the police questioned the other boys playing hide and seek with Kishore. They also questioned neighbours. Meanwhile, T Aravind, alias Viswanath (22), a diploma holder in engineering from the same area, surrendered before the village administrative officer and confessed to the crime.
He told him  while he was walking back to his house on the evening of September 23, Kishore tried to hide behind him. When he shooed Kishore off, the latter abused him using foul language. Aravind claimed he then strangulated Kishore in a fit of anger, took the body to an empty housing site near his home and buried it.

The police exhumed the body in the presence of Thanga Prabakaran, tahsildar, Thanjavur. The body was sent for postmortem. SP T Senthilkumar, and ASPs S Kannan and J Rethinavel visited the site. Aravind has arrested under various sections of the IPC, including 302 (murder).
