JNU Chancellor VK Saraswat calls for innovation in technology at Vellore Institute of Technology

Around 1300 awards, certificates, trophies and cash prizes to the tune of Rs 60 lakhs were given to students and the teaching fraternity in the day-long event.

CHENNAI: VK Saraswat, Member of NITI Aayog and Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, urged  students to think in terms of inclusive growth and break barriers to overcome disruptive technology.
He was speaking at the Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, University Day and Sports Day Celebrations on Saturday.

“Only innovation in technology can add value to life,” he said. G Viswanathan, Chancellor of VIT, emphasised the need for students to be good citizens in order to be good future leaders.

Around 1300 awards, certificates, trophies and cash prizes to the tune of `60 lakhs were given to students and the teaching fraternity in the day-long event.

Suvarna Saumya won the GV Special Achiever Award comprising a gold medal and a cash prize. The best outgoing student award was given to Dayanidhi Krishna and Harshita P among undergraduates while Apratim Chatterjee and Sindhura Kannappan won the award at the postgraduate level. Shreyas Suhas Gaidhani and Manisha bagged the trophy for best sportspersons.
