Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has embarked on a new mission of making government offices clean, along with making a water-rich Puducherry.

PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has embarked on a new mission of making government offices clean, along with making a water-rich Puducherry. While Saturdays will be to make offices clean, Sundays will be focused on water rich Puducherry, she said. She started her new mission on clean office at the Electricity department head office this morning.

The entire department led by their Secretary Power, Prashant Panda and the Superintending Engineer Ravi heading the department along with his team of engineers were present when she inspected the swachhta activities. The premises were cleaned of the dust and grime. They removed the age-old junk from their premises and cleaned up the floors of grease and condemned stuff. Offices and office corridors were cleaned up of old sacks and it gave a clean look.

She advised them to keep the premises and work environment clean and hygienic for better productivity.Next one in focus will be the Municipal corporation offices followed by police stations in the coming Saturdays, said Bedi. Prior to this Lt Governor participated in Van Mahotsav celebration by planting of trees at Ossudu along with Senior officers of Departments of Tourism, Forest, Police, PWD, Science and Technology, Team RajNivas and others.

The Oussudu lake with an areas of 800 hectres with 390 Ha in Puducherry and 410 Ha in Tamilnadu is projected to be developed as a comprehensive tourism facility under the centrally sponsored scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 3.54 crores with provisions of Children park, boat decks, stay huts, bund protection, an interpretation centre, nature trails and bird watching walkways .

The emphasis of the project is on eco-friendly structures and preservation of eco-dynamics of the area, to preserve the natural environment of the lake, which is a retreat for migratory birds. Lt Governor advised the Director Tourism Mohamed Mansoor to provide seating facility along the lake bund for Tourists to sit back and relax.
