No off days for this tireless teacher in Devamangalam of Tamil Nadu

The 51-year-old teacher, who studied MSc BEd (Physics), seeks to make scientists of students in his school.

ARIYALUR: A Government school teacher has been working for the past seven years without taking a single day off from work. He works even on holidays to arrange for a science laboratory at the panchayat union middle school in Devamangalam.

As the school reopened on June 1 after summer vacation, even on Saturday and Sunday, L Senguttauvan arranged for the science laboratory, which he set up on his own initiative. The lab is in a room of the school and Senguttauvan has been working with the support of headmistress R Vetriselvi.

The 51-year-old teacher, who studied MSc BEd (Physics), seeks to make scientists of students in his school. To inculcate a scientific temper in young minds, he set up a laboratory and it has already borne fruit. Many students of the school have excelled in science competitions conducted by various organisations, as well as the State and Central governments, at the district, State and national levels.
