‘Kamal Hassan’s hugging therapy won’t help’, says Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar

Several legal battles have taken place. Jayalalithaa’s efforts have borne fruit. Even taking the matter to the international court will not help.

CHENNAI: Taking a dig at actor and leader of Makkal Needhi Maiam Kamal Haasan’s meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy on the Cauvery issue,  Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar on Tuesday said his ‘hugging therapy’ (kattipudi vaithiyam) will not work as far as the  issue is concerned. He told reporters “The Cauvery issue is a long drawn one.

Several legal battles have taken place. Jayalalithaa’s efforts have borne fruit. Even taking the matter to the international court will not help. Like in his movie Vasool Raja MBBS, his hugging therapies will not work for this issue.”  However, actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth came to the defence of Kamal Haasan. Speaking to reporters at Chennai airport, Rajinikanth said Kamal Haasan’s move was ‘not wrong’ and could, in fact, be a ‘healthy’ development.
