Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu to benefit from Bengaluru ring road

CHENNAI: One of major industrial town of the state, Hosur is set to get better connectivity with Bengaluru and Chennai with National Highways Authority India (NHAI) all set to build 42 km six-lane ring road connecting the borders of two States.

The 42km road was planned as part of 179 km Satellite Town Ring Road (STTR) project sponsored by NHAI under Bharatmala project, connecting satellite towns in Bangalore Rural, Bangalore Urban and Ramanagara districts in Karnataka and Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu.

The road will connect Dobbspet, Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Hosur, Anekal, Hosakote, Ramanagara and Magadi towns.

While the 137 km road will pass through Karnataka, it is proposed to be executed under two phases, the 42 km road which runs through Krishnagiri district will be developed under third phase. The project is estimated to cost Rs 10,000 crore.

Besides, improving the connectivity of Hosur, one of the major industrial towns of Tamil Nadu, the road would also get connected to the proposed Chennai - Bengaluru Expressway via Hosakote and Malur towns thereby easing vehicular traffic between the two capital cites of States.

“In addition, the travel time between Hosur and Bengaluru Airport also will come down once the road is developed,” explained an officer.

The six-lane proposed road to start at Denkanikottai of Krishnagiri district on the borders of two States and end at Deeviripalli village of Hosur Taluk, another end of the borders. The road will have 75 metres width and is designed for 100 km speed.

The road would pass through Kappakollu, Payarakanahalli, S.Mudugandanahally, Golisandram, Thorapalli Agraharam, Kothur, Perandapalli, Kadirapalli, Alur, Dasapalle, Payarkuttalai,Nandimangalam, Attur, B.Mudaganahalli, Kadiriganadinna and Sampangere villages.

Releasing the terms of reference for the road project, in the first week of June, the Union ministry had directed NHAI to conduct the public hearings in Krishnagiri district as per the guidelines and rules.
