PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry Speaker V Vaithilingam on Sunday said that he was in a dilemma whether a privilege issue could be brought against Lt Governor Kiran Bedi.
In an informal chat with media persons after distributing sarees and uniforms to garbage cleaning workers in Kamaraj Nagar constituency on Sunday, Vaithlingam added that whether the complaint attracted the privilege against the Lt Governor.
The Speaker said he would discuss with the AIADMK MLA A Anbazhagan on how it attracted the privilege and seek a legal opinion.
There is no clarity whether the L-G can be called to appear before the privilege committee. Only constitutional authorities have the immunity and it is not clear whether the Lt Governor’s post is a constitutional authority since the L-G is an administrator, he added.
