Even as the chorus for making Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa the next prime minister of the country is getting louder, on Saturday she expressed confidence that changes would take place at the national level so that she could deliver more for the people of Tamil Nadu.

Taking pride at the welfare schemes being implemented by her government, Jayalalithaa said: “I have more duties towards Tamil Nadu and its people.  For that to happen, changes at the national level is a must.  I hope with your support, such a change will take place.”

After launching the distribution of Pongal gift hampers and free sarees and dhotis at a public function held at Coonoor, the CM said: “Just because I extend timely assistance to you (the people), you have kept me in the appropriate place... I am with the people, they are with me.”

Jayalalithaa said some persons were engrossed in day-dreams hoping to win the minds of the people by unleashing false campaigns against her government. “In such a situation, all the welfare measures of my government are implemented only after pondering over whether they benefit the people. As such, the people are solidly behind my government. Throughout the day, I am thinking of doing good to the people in whatever ways I can” she added.
