A total of 1,66,978 candidates have registered for the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE), to be held from April 15 to 24, for admissions to the B.Tech programme at the university. This is about 17,000 more than last year’s enrolment.

For the first time, the examinations would be paperless and Computer Based Test (CBT) is being organised in 130 centres in 112 cities in India, besides Dubai and Kuwait.

VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan said the demand from students based in the Middle-Eastern countries had led VIT University to conduct entrance examinations in their countries.

The results will be published by May 5 on various websites including: www.vit.ac.in, www.schools9.com, www.indiaresults.com, www.minglebox.com, www.shiksha.com, www.bharathedu.com, www.examresults.net, and www.instantexamresults.com.

The counselling for admissions will begin from May 13 and will continue till 18.  “VITEEE rank holders between 1 and 50 will be given 75 per cent fee waiver, while those in the bracket of 51 to 100 will be given 50 per cent and between 101 and 1,000 will be awarded a scholarship to the tune of Rs 95,000,” he said.
