Hinduja Power for Telangana

HYDERABAD:  In what could be a breather to Telangana, which is reeling under power crisis, the Telangana State Discoms have succeeded in prevailing upon Hinduja National Power Corporation Limited (HNPCL) to share power to be generated by its plant at Visakhapatnam as per the AP Reorganisation Act-2014.

Officials of the Discoms held a meeting with representatives of Hinduja here on Wednesday. “Despite the AP government’s threats to Hindujas not to share power with Telangana, they have agreed to give power,” a senior official said. The Hinduja plant in Vizag is likely to start generation of 520 MW in its first plant in February. The second plant with an installed capacity of another 520 MW will start generation in April. Telangana would get around 280 MW in February and another 280 MW in April.
