Satheesh Reddy Conferred with Visvesvaraya Award

HYDERABAD: Scientific advisor to defence minister G Satheesh Reddy was conferred with the Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya award of the Institution of Engineers (India) here on Tuesday.

The award was presented during the institution’s 48th Engineers Day celebrations, held in commemoration of 155th birth anniversary of Sir Visvesvaraya.

Addressing the gathering after receiving the award, Satheesh Reddy said “In the present technological world, engineers and scientists can be considered as engines of innovation. Engineers play a major role in innovation. We have seen Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, APJ Abdul Kalam, Vikram Sarabhai and these are the people who brought major changes in the field they are working. They are the ones who built the team spirit. Technology which changes the economic direction and which helps country to go forward is the need of the hour,” he said.

“It is very prestigious to receive Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya award. I am honoured to receive it. I would love to share this award with my team at Research Centre Imarat, who had an equal share in all my achievements,” he added.

Satheesh is an eminent missile scientist, who had made pioneering contributions to navigation and avionics technologies. He steered many defence projects and programmes as director of RCI and provided necessary thrust to the development of critical technologies.

Apart from Satheesh Reddy, Dr S Narayana Reddy, professor & chairman, Board of Studies, Dept of Electronics and Communication, SV University, Tirupati, M Sambaiah, former superintending engineer, AP,TSTransco, Warangal, Dr Amit Bhattacharjee, scientist and group head, DMRL, Hyderabad and various other engineers were presented awards in different categories.
