Opposition protests non-payment of fee dues

TDP undertaking ‘Rythu Poru Yatras’ across the State to highlight the problems being faced by farmer has led to TDP, Congress and BJP competing with each other in holding protests, now in support of students, whose fee reimbursement dues have not been cleared by the State.

HYDERABAD: TDP undertaking ‘Rythu Poru Yatras’ across the State to highlight the problems being faced by farmer has led to TDP, Congress and BJP competing with each other in holding protests, now in support of students, whose fee reimbursement dues have not been cleared by the State.

If the Congress is already at the forefront of holding agitations to expose improper implementation of ‘fee reimbursement scheme’, now BJP and TDP have also joined the race. Proving this, BJP leaders headed by State president K Laxman held a protest rally, named, ‘Fees Poru Baata,’ at LB Nagar on Thursday with hundreds of students demanding that the government clear all fee reimbursement dues immediately.

Addressing a gathering, Laxman came down heavily on the government for not clearing the fee reimbursement dues of lakhs of students studying in private colleges in the state. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao claims that Telangana is one of the richest states in the country. He has even constructed a posh bungalow on 9 acres of land and spent crores of rupees of taxpayers’ money to serve him as another official residence. However, he has no heart to clear the pending dues of `2,500 crore towards fee reimbursement scheme,” the BJP State president said.

TDP has also decided to hold ‘Vidyarthi Poru’ protests from Dec 9 to Jan 26 across the State to exert pressure on the government to clear all fee reimbursement dues.

“Prior to the general polls and during the Telangana movement, CM KCR promised that his government would introduce a free education scheme from KG to PG for all sections of people. Instead of fulfilling this promise, TRS government in the State is closing down government schools and colleges in the State.

We will expose the dubious nature of the government with our Vidyarthi Poru programme, which will begin from Warangal from Friday,” TDP TS unit working president A Revanth Reddy said.
