KARIMNAGAR : Forced to stand outside the classroom for no fault of theirs, four students of Government High School, Mukarampura,  on Thursday marched to the district education office seeking the intervention of the officials to put an end to the ‘punishment’ they have been being subjected to for the past two months.

The Class VII students have been attending the school without uniform and hence were made to stand in the school ground with their hands stretched up till the completion of the first period. The students are being punished on the instructions of the headmaster.

Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) has to provide uniforms to the students of government schools every year. But this year many students have not been provided the uniforms till now.

Unable to bear the punishment, four students tried to meet the district educational officer but the officer was not available. With the help of some people at the collectorate, they met district collector Sarfaraz Ahmed.

“We do not have school uniforms and we are being punished for no fault of ours. We are losing our first period,” Syed Sajeed, a student, told the collector.
After giving them a patient hearing, the collector called DEO P Rajeev and directed him to take appropriate action against the headmaster.
