52 Mudiraj families suffer social boycott in Nizamabad village

The social boycott was imposed on the 52 families by the 10 members of the Village Development Committee (VDC) of Chintaluru in Jakaranpally Mandal of the district.

NIZAMABAD: More than 50 members of a particular community were socially boycotted in a village of Nizamabad as one of the members of the community did not give his consent to give away his land for digging of a canal.

The social boycott was imposed on the 52 families by the 10 members of the Village Development Committee (VDC) of Chintaluru in Jakaranpally Mandal of the district.

According to information reaching here, a person hailing from Mudiraj community, Muttenna, was having a piece of land in the village.

The local VDC asked Muttenna, who was also a member of the Committee, to part away his land for digging up of an irrigation canal of the Ramadugu Minor Irrigation Project so that water is provided to the irrigation lands to the locals.

Muttenna reportedly asked for a fair compensation but the VDC asked him to part away with the land as it serves the other villagers.

This created differences between the VDC and Muttenna and the committee imposed a social boycott on Muttenna and also on all the remaining 51 families of the community.

This happened almost a week back.

On Tuesday, led by Telangana Mudiraj Mahajana Sabha state president E Gopi, a delegation of the boycotted families submitted a memorandum District Collector Dr Yogita Rana, saying that they were unable to live in the village due to the boycott.

Rana asked the local revenue and police officials to conduct an inquiry.

A team of officials comprising revenue, police and irrigation departments visited Chintaluru village and conducted Gramasabha and recorded the arguments of the VDC members and the boycotted families.
The VDC members alleged that Muttenna encroached some land which is coming in the way of the canal works.

Not convinced with the version of the VDC, the officials warned of stringent action, if they continue to boycott the families, and bound over the VDC members before the MRO.
