KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar is in the grip of dengue with 58 cases being reported from the town so far. However, no one has died due to dreaded disease in the district.

According to district administration and Health officials, of the 58 positive cases, 28 have been reported in the district headquarters alone.

Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed told mediapersons here on Wednesday that, dengue cases have come down gradually. He said the  NS1 rapid test being conducted in private hospitals are not trustworthy and that the people should opt for Elisa test which  is authentic and available at the Government Civil Hospital in Karimnagar.

Officials of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (KMC) as well as the Medical and Health authorities are conducting special drives creating awareness among people by means of health camps.

Referring to water stagnation in open spaces in the colonies, the collector directed KMC authorities to take measures to clean them and intensify efforts to curb the breeding of mosquitoes in such places.
