KHAMMAM: Launching a blistering attack on Congress leaders, TRS leader and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha has demanded an explanation from them as to what they had done for the revival of the Nizam Sugar Factory (NSF) while they were in power from 2004 to 2014.

Kavitha toured Balkonda Assembly constituency on Monday and inaugurated several developmental programmes.

Speaking with mediapersons here, she strongly condemned the charges made by TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on NSF revival.

“Congress leaders are jealous of TRS government which has launched several developmental and welfare programmes. They fear a threat to their political existence. Hence their false and baseless allegations against the government,” Kavitha said.

She asked former minister and senior Congress leader P Sudarshan Reddy to explain what he had done for NSF’s revival when his party was in power. Claiming that the TRS government was committed to reviving the NSF, she said the government not only cleared Rs 50 crore payment to sugarcane farmers but also paid them money over and above the MSP in the last two years.

Citing another example of the farmer-friendly policy of the government, she said the government fixed ` 2,400 as the minimum support price for soya.

Mission Bhagiratha vice-chairman V Prashanth Reddy and several others accompanied Kavitha on her tour.
