HYDERABAD: The officials of the roads and buildings department are in a dilemma whether to shift buildings within the Secretariat premises’ offices or outside of it.

Even though, the officials examined six places outside Secretariat including BRKR Bhavan to shift the Secretariat offices on a temporary basis, some senior R&B officials have doubts. Shifting the Secretariat offices outside Secretariat to six places would require money for renovation works at BRKR Bhavan and other buildings. It would be inconvenient to the public too to search for their respective departments.

Some senior officials suggest that the Secretariat offices be shifted to the blocks, currently used by AP Secretariat. “The new Secretariat building would come up exactly where the D Block is now located. So, the TS Secretariat offices can be shifted to AP Secretariat blocks. Once, the new building is constructed for TS Secretariat, the offices can easily be re-shifted to new building of TS,” the officials said. The AP State government spent around Rs 8 crore for renovation of L Block for Chief Minister’s chamber and some of the

Ministers spent around Rs 1 crore to Rs 3 crore each on renovating their chambers.
If the TS Secretariat officials used these renovated buildings, then there would be  no need for TS to spend money again to renovate the Chief Minister’s and Ministers’ chambers at BRKR Bhavan, sources said. R&B engineer-in-chief Ganapati Reddy said that the shifting of Secretariat offices was not finalised. There are differences on the issue among R&B officials but the final will be taken by the CM.
