New districts to create opportunities for politicos of all parties in the state

HYDERABAD: There might be differences of opinion among political parties over the contours of the proposed new districts in the state but there seems to be a unanimity among all parties on the issue that new districts would prove helpful to them.

The view is that the creation of new districts would create more political jobs, provide an opportunity to them in infusing young blood. Once a new district is formed, every political party will have to set up a separate unit for it within the district, with a new executive body along with a new chief for the district wing. “Thus, creation of new districts will create more political opportunities to each party in the state. No doubt, formation of new districts would provide new political posts for the leaders and workers in the respective parties. Every party will have to set up its party office at the headquarters of each new district, thus providing employment to party workers in it,” TDP TS unit general secretary Amarnath Babu told Express. “For instance, by splitting Khammam into Khammam and Kothagudem districts, minister Tummala Nageswara Rao can look after Khammam, whereas another strong leader of the party Jalagam Venkata Rao can take care of Kothagudem. This will end internal disputes, if any, between the two leaders,” a TRS leader said, adding that bifurcation of Adilabad into two districts would make ministers A Indrakaran Reddy and Jogu Ramanna supervise the party activities in two separate jurisdictions. “The same is applicable to each political party whether it is Congress or TDP. Creation of new districts will surely provide an opportunity to the respective party leaderships to defuse tensions between two equally powerful leaders of the same party in the present district as they will be asked to look after the party affairs in two districts, post-creation of new districts,” he said. “New district will provide a chance to young leaders to prove their leadership. This process will eventually help each political party get strengthened at grassroots level,” a Congress leader said.
