Satyam case: Court orders return of ex-MD’s passport

HYDERABAD: The High Court on Thursday, directed the prosecution to return the passport of B Rama Raju, the then managing director of  scam-tainted  Satyam Computer Services Limted.

Justice MSK Jaiswal gave the direction while allowing a petition filed by Rama Raju challenging an order of the lower court which had rejected his application for return of his passport.

It was rejected on the the ground that it had to be sent along with other documents to the appellate court where the appeals dealing with the Satyam case are still pending.

The judge said that the trial court had no power to reject the passport on the ground that all the documents relating to the case were required to be sent to the appellate court.

Unless the document was marked as an exhibit in the case, it would not constitute a document for being sent to the appellate court, the judge noted, while allowing the plea.
