HYDERABAD: Mudragada Padmanabham, who has been fighting for reservation for the numerically strong Kapu community in Andhra Pradesh, has all praise for Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for hiking the reservation to STs and Muslims.
In a letter to Rao on Monday, the former minister in the united AP state, compared Rao with Dr BR Ambedkar.
“You have implemented all your election promises in a short span of time. As you have rightly observed, this has been done without any dharnas, rasta rokos and protests by the people.
You have proved that election manifestos should not become waste papers as pointed out by the chief justice of India,” Padmanabham said in the letter.
“Hiking the reservation quota for tribals and Muslims proved that you are following in the footsteps of Dr BR Ambedkar who strived for the reservation of the oppressed and weaker sections,” Padmanabham said.
“We have to respect the people who have voted us to power. Our AP chief minister had subjected people to lathi-charge, implicated them in false cases and made them bear with choicest abuses hurled at them when people asked him to implement promises made in the election manifesto.
Please do not follow him. Power, properties and lives are not permanent except the name and fame.”
The Kapu leader also had a suggestion for Rao. “Please do not follow the AP CM who spends crores of rupees during elections. By implementing the promises made in the election manifesto, you have stood as the first CM in the country who had fulfilled the election promises.
In a similar way, try to conduct elections without spending a rupee to lure voters and get the credit for it. Please get a permanent place in the hearts of people. I congratulate you on your governance,” he said.
