IMD issues heat wave warning for four districts in Telangana

HYDERABAD: A heat wave warning has been issued for four districts in the State till Tuesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also said that maximum temperatures are likely to be above normal by 2-4 degree Celsius and the same is likely to be above 42 degree Celsius at a few places over TS till Tuesday.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in a few places of Khammam district on Sunday as the maximum temperature recorded was 44 degree Celsius, which is 5.5 degree Celsius above normal.

The IMD has sounded a warning that heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail at isolated places in the districts of Nalgonda, Khammam, Mahbubnagar and Warangal. Khammam experienced heat wave on Sunday.

The eastern districts of Telangana state - Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahbubabad along with parts of Suryapet and Nalgonda - bore the brunt of high temperatures, which were anywhere between 43.1 - 45 degree Celsius. In most parts of the state, the maximum temperatures recorded were 1-3 degree Celsius above normal.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 43.8 degree Celsius in Nalgonda, 43.2 degree Celsius in Bhadrachalam, 42.6 degree Celsius in Ramagundam and 42.4 degree Celsius in Mahbubnagar. In Hyderabad it was recorded at 40.5 degree Celsius.
