Minor girl dies after being set ablaze while attending nature's call in Telangana

Bhagya Lakshmi, who was first taken to a hospital in Nizamabad, suffered nearly 80 per cent burns before locals could douse the flames.

HYDERABAD: A  11-year-old girl M Bhagyalaxmi died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, following serious injury, after she was allegedly set ablaze by unidentified persons, in Pegadapally village under Bodhan rural police station limits in Nizamabad district on Monday.

She was first sent to Government General Hospital (GGH) Nizamabad and was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.

According Bodhan Rural CI S Srinivasulu, M Bhagyalaxmi, who stayed with her mother in Pegadapally of Bodhan mandal went out around 1 am for nature’s call. “When she was returning home, unknown persons attacked her with kerosene and set her afire,” police said. She suffered more than 80 percent injuries.

Nizamabad Assistant Commissioner of Police D Anandkumar collected evidences from the place of incident and deployed two special teams to find out the persons who attacked the girl. The CI said that a case has been registered under Sec 302 of IPC.
