TRS activist hangs self over ‘raw deal’ to local leaders in Telangana

A 34-year-old TRS activist allegedly ended his life reportedly vexed over lack of coordination within the party cadre and recognition to seniors in the party.

HYDERABAD: In an incident that would blow the lid over the infighting and tussle between the leaders who have been with the TRS since its inception and those who have joined it recently, a 34-year-old TRS activist allegedly ended his life reportedly vexed over lack of coordination within the party cadre and recognition to seniors in the party. He hanged himself from a tree in Prof Jayashanker Telangana State Agriculture University gardens at Rajendranagar here on Sunday.  The deceased, Mahipal Reddy, hailed from Mailardevpally in Cyberabad police limits.

Morning walkers at the university noticed the man hanging from a tree and a bike parked nearby and informed the police immediately.   Police found a suicide note purportedly written by Mahipal Reddy and addressed to IT minister K T Rama Rao.Mahipal Reddy said in the letter that he worked for TRS’ victory in GHMC elections. “People were attracted to TRS after you (KTR) spoke against Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud at Katedan during electioneering. Believing you, people elected TRS candidates in the GHMC elections. But, the party opened doors to MLAs who have defected from TDP,  which hurt the sentiments of people because the TDP and its leaders had opposed formation of Telangana state,” he said

The note also spoke out about disputes and lack of coordination among the leaders who have been working for strengthening of the party since its inception and those who defected from the TDP and joined it recently. “The new leaders are not giving importance to local leaders of the party,” Mahipal Reddy said.
Police, quoting the suicide note, said Mahipal Reddy requested Rama Rao to recognise party leader T Srinivas Reddy’s abilities to strengthen the party and offer good position to him. “This (recognition to Srinivas Reddy) is my last wish,” Reddy said in his suicide note.
