TRS merely appeasing farmers in Telangana: TDP leader

Senior TDP leader and former MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy alleged that TRS has been neglecting farm sector and never cared to provide remunerative prices to farmers for their produces.

WARANGAL: Taking strong objection to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao naming party foundation day public meeting to be held at Hanamkonda on April 27 as ‘Rythu Jaitra Yatra’,  senior TDP leader and former MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy alleged that TRS has been neglecting farm sector and never cared to provide remunerative prices to farmers for their produces. Prakash Reddy said Rao has dedicated its public meeting to them to appease the farmers as it has lost their confidence.

He gave a call to the farmers attending TRS meeting to wear black badges to protest against the attitude of the government towards them.

Speaking to mediapersons on Sunday, Prakash Reddy said that TRS has no right to dedicate its public meeting to farmers as it has done nothing for them.  “TRS failed to provide MSP to farmers. Now that the entire farming community is unhappy, the government is trying to appease them by announcing few sops for political mileage,” he said.

He said the minister and TRS MLAs have time to visit public meeting venue but no time to visit Enumamula market yard where farmers have been agitating for remunerative prices. He said that more than 3,500 farmers, including 135 in erstwhile Warangal district, have committed suicide and the government has done nothing to stop it.
