HYDERABAD: Hyderabad city police on Tuesday apprehended five persons who were allegedly hired by former Congress minister M Mukesh Goud’s son, Vikram Goud to open fire at him. The police probe revealed that Vikram staged a drama to gain ‘political sympathy’, said sources. During wee hours on July 30, Vikram, who was at his home along with wife Shipali and two sons, was allegedly shot. He received two bullet injuries.

A case was registered by Banjara Hills police based on the complaint lodged by his wife. Since the initial probe, the claims made by Shipali and Vikram’s silence in revealing the sequence of incidents before firing, raised suspicions. The four-days in-depth investigation revealed shocking facts about self-supari.

Sources said, “Based on the call data records, police apprehended three persons from Anantapur, who were contacted several times by Vikram in the recent past. Their questioning helped in nabbing another assailant from Karnataka and one from Indore.”

The Indore-based assailant Nandu was not directly known to Vikram, but was a friend of the Karnataka-based assailant, who was contacted by assailants from Anantapur. With the self-supari allegations surfacing, police are also thinking to book a case against Vikram and however, the others have been booked under Arms Act and attempt to murder, sources added.

Third plan executed

Vikram, who is facing severe financial crunch and had lost his grip in the political circle, wanted to get it back. For this, he hatched a plan of self-supari. “The sketch for the firing incident was done for almost six months. Goud had reportedly gone to Indore to meet shooter to explain him the plan. Three days before the incident, he threw a party at his home to the assailants, who were staying in lodges in the city,” said sources. “Initially, they wanted to execute the plan on the road to portray that he was attacked by rivals.

The second plan was to execute it at Clap Shot Productions office, but dropped it as it was far from Apollo Hospital and executed the last plan of firing him at home,” said sources.
