NIZAMABAD : A group of youths allegedly assaulted M D Yakhinuddin, principal of a Junior College in Ilapur village of Nandipet mandal, for hoisting the national flag while wearing shoes during Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday. In response, several Muslim organisations tried to organise protests against the alleged assault in the district on Wednesday but police refused to give them permission.
The organisations submitted a memorandum to Nizamabad collector Dr Yogitha Rana asking her to take action against the miscreants. They alleged that the principal has been attacked by activists of ABVP, BJP and RSS. However, ABVP and BJP leaders denied the charges. The Muslim organisations also made a representation to District Intermediate Board officer D Oddenna.
