Telangana to have State song; to be declared at World Telugu Meet

Telangana is all set to have its own State song soon. “Telangana Suprabhatam” penned by writer and former principal of Oriental College, Ayachitam Nateswara Sarma.

HYDERABAD: Telangana is all set to have its own State song soon. “Telangana Suprabhatam” penned by writer and former principal of Oriental College, Ayachitam Nateswara Sarma, is likely to be declared the State song by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the World Telugu Conference (WTC) here on December 15.It was already decided that the CM will release the audio format of  “Telangana Suprabhatam” at the inaugural session of WTC. Musician Ramachari is composing  the song which he would sing along with playback singer Nitya Santoshini.

Telangana Suprabhatam will have 42 verses with a Makutam - ‘Telangana Bhu Matruke Suprabhatam’.  A Makutam (refrain) in Telugu poetry is the common last line for all the stanzas. The Suprabhatam will extol the greatness of all the 31 districts of the state.“It  took me two years to pen these 42 stanzas,” Nateswara Sarma told Express on Friday.  The song was explained to Rao at a recent meeting of poets and writers. Rao readily agreed to open the WTC by playing Telangana Suprabhatam. 

The 42 stanzas are written  in the famous Bhujanga metre, which is used for slokas for praising some thing. “Adi Sankaracharya penned several stotrams, including Subrahmanya Bhujanga Prayata Stotram,” Sarma explained and said he used the same metre to praise Telangana Thalli. 
The audio CD of Telangana Suprabhatam will begin with a commentary by famous writer Desapati Srinivas.


Sources said that Rao was impressed by Telangana Suprabhatam and he may declare it the State song. Several audio CDs are likely to be distributed to educational institutions too. The duration of the song will be around 40 minutes. Post-bifurcation, TS  has had no State song so far.

Telangana State government has undertaken a massive work of bringing Telugu-Telugu dictionary with over one lakh words. It will be a one-year project and the work has been going on for the last six months. 
As part of promoting and preserving Telugu language, the Telugu University has been entrusted with the job of preparing the biggest dictionary. So far, there is no dictionary with one lakh words in Telugu.  All the old and new words will be included.

As part of the World Telugu Conference, the Telugu Akademi is bringing as many as 60 monographs on versatile personalities in literature, politics and Telangana movement. The number of monographs will be increased later. However, the 60 monographs will be released during five-day WTC beginning on December 15. “The monographs, each will be brought out in 100-page book format, will be on  social reformer Bhagya Reddy Verma, poets Pothana, Bhakta Ramadasu, Palkuriki Somanatha, founding member of the Communist Party Ravi Narayana Reddy,  tribal leader who fought against the Asaf Jahi Dynasty for the liberation of Hyderabad Komaram Bheem, revolutionary leader Chakali Ailamma and many others, according to officer on special duty in CMO Deshapati Srinivas. 

Besides, the government will also release audio albums of Telangana poems and songs during WTC.  Sepcial issues will also be brought out on Telangana Telugu. Meanwhile, Chief Secretary SP Singh held a review with all the concerned at Secretariat on Friday on the arrangements for the WTC. The Chief Secretary directed the officials to ensure that there would be no problems for the delegates for rooms and meals at WTC.  

A laser show will be organised at LB Stadium, the main venue of WTC.  Around 100 welcoming arches will be put up in Hyderabad and big hoardings will be put up in Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi cities. 
A special control room too will be set up for the convenience of the delegates. President and Vice-President will take part in the concluding and inaugural sessions of the WTC.
