Government delays aid for unemployed youth in Telangana's Medak district 

It has been a long wait for the unemployed youths in the erstwhile Medak district hoping financial assistance under State government’s self employment scheme.

SANGAREDDY: It has been a long wait for the unemployed youths in the erstwhile Medak district hoping financial assistance under State government’s self employment scheme.Earlier, the government used to provide financial assistance through self employment schemes every year for educated and those dependent on crafts. However, most of the unemployed in the district have been waiting for financial assistance for last three years.

In financial year 2015-16, 1,200 unemployed applied online under self employment scheme in united Medak district, but only half of them received assistance. Some of them have died. Unemployed people said funds used to be released in the united state every year but after formation of the new State, there has been a dearth of money. Despite all beneficiaries selected for financial year 2015-16, most of them have not received assistance. Officials have sent a list of 668 beneficiaries for 2015-16, 750 for 2016-17, 850 for 2017-18. Sangareddy district BC Welfare officer B Keshuram Naik agreed that the scheme for year 2015-16 was not completely implemented.

He pointed out that they had requested for release of `723.87 lakh for 668 beneficiaries in financial year 2015-16 but government has released `341.78 lakh for 317 beneficiaries. He added that there are chances that funds for the remaining beneficiaries would be released in couple of days.

When asked about the financial assistance for beneficiaries listed for past two years, he said they have prepared proposals and have sent to the government. Meanwhile, Keshuram Naik said that beneficiaries have not been selected and funds were also not sanctioned yet for the financial year 2016-17 and 2017-18.
