Over 1.5 lakh adivasis likely to attend Maha Garjana today

ADILABAD: More than 1.50 lakh adivasis including a large number of women from united Adilabad district are expected to take part in the Adivasi Maha Garjana to be held at Saroornagar stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday. The adivasis are holding the meet with a demand to remove lambadas from ST category.From united Adilabad district, 400 vehicles were already hired , of which there are 150 TSRTC buses. From Bela mandal 70 jeeps were arranged. From Nanded district Adivasis are going to participate in them.

Each and every village heads collected the amount and hired the vehicles. Each and every vehicle of the Adilabad constituency reached the district headquarters and organised a rally from the R&B Guest to Kumrambheem chowk after paid tributes to Kumrambheem and began the vehicles.

The Adivasis organisation leaders, in the last two months organised huge peaceful rallies in each and every mandal and created awareness about the importance of the agitations and Maha Garjana. They demanded the government to remove the Migrated Lambadas from the ST category.

Aboriginal Tribal Welfare Employees welfare Association state president Siddam Vaman Rao said that this is the beginning and a lot more needs to be done. He said that after the Maha Garjana, they will carry out agitations in a phased manner.He also said that the Maharashtra state government had appointed a committee and the same is required in the state. The central government must appoint a committee and do survey, he added. As for the police estimation from Adilabad district, 30,000 tribals from Kumrambheem district, 20,000 from Nirmal and Mancherial district each will attend the meet.
