CBI trying to establish role of AP Singh in Emaar case

Meat exporter Qureshi sought Singh’s help for a lounge in Delhi airport

HYDERABAD: Meat exporter Moin Qureshi, who collected huge amounts illegally from the accused in various cases investigated by the CBI, had sought help of former CBI director AP Singh in getting a no objection clearance from Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) for setting up a lounge in terminal three.

The CBI officials, who are investigating criminal conspiracy cases in connection with Koneru Prasad’s Emaar case, in which the accused Moin Qureshi, who has close association with CBI’s former director AP Singh, saved various contacts of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).

The CBI officials, who registered criminal cases on Koneru Prasad’s son Koneru Pradeep for conspiring with Moin Qureshi by offering huge amounts in return for favours to get rid of Prasad’s Emaar case, intensified the probe in establishing the role of AP Singh.

Sources told Express that CBI officials collected chat data between former CBI director AP Singh and Moin. “In the chat data, it was revealed that Moin was in London and got in touch with AP Singh and sought his help to clear a permission letter in setting up a lounge at Terminal 3 at Delhi airport. AP Singh reacted that he didn’t knew anyone personally but could provide contacts and could fix a meeting for a day,” the CBI officials reveals.

The investigators also obtained text messages exchanged between Koneru Pradeep and Moin Qureshi in which Pradeep requested for favours in his father Koneru Prasad’s case.

In chat data, CBI officials received information that Moin directed his employee Aditya to collect money from Pradeep and others. Aditya received the money from the accused and their family members and were promised favours with respect to investigation and legal proceedings in the case.

“Moin approached AP Singh for help in Koneru Prasad’s case for an amount which is being investigated by the CBI. Special teams are still probing to establish the role of AP Singh as to whether he contacted any officials of CBI during the investigation into Koneru Prasad’s case in 2012 and 2013. Based on inputs, action will be initiated against those are who directly or indirectly involved in the case,” sources said.
