Two farmers killed, three injured in road mishap in Warangal

WARANGAL: Two cotton farmers were killed and three others seriously injured when their autorickshaw  collided with a van here this morning.

Five farmers were carrying cotton in an autorickshaw from Palakurthy to sell their produce at Enumamula market in the district, police said.

When the autorickshaw reached Punnelu crossroads, a van coming from the opposite direction hit the three-wheeler.

Two of the farmers -- Badavath Bojya (60), from Palakurthy village, and Gugulotu Bichu (40), from Kondapoor village of Palakuthy mandal -- died on the spot, police said.

The three injured persons were shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal where the bodies were also taken for postmortem. The Inavolu police are investigating the case.
