State maiden kite festival receives mixed response

The maiden kite festival saw over 10,000 people from across the State making a beeline to the venue to enjoy the spectacle.

WARANGAL: The second edition of Telangana International Kite Fest, was organised on a grandscale at Arts and Science College Grounds in Hanamkonda on Tuesday. The maiden kite festival saw over 10,000 people from across the district making a beeline to the venue to enjoy the spectacle.

International Kite Festival provided visitors a perfect opportunity to unwind and witness kites of all shapes and sizes which adorned the skyline of Warangal. Thousands of people enjoyed the spectacle in the sky in the shapes of turtle, baby doll, dolphin, fish, dragons, tender bolt, train kites and more.

Kite-fliers from countries like France, Malaysia, Scotland, Japan and Ukraine participated.

It was formally launched by Tourism principal secretary Burra Venkatesham by lighting the lamp amid the presence of Warangal Mayor N Narender, Warangal (urban) district collector Amrapali Kata, city police commissioner G Sudheer Babu and GWMC commissioner Shruti Ojha.

Hundreds of students from across the district visited the festival. Cultural programmes were also organised to entertain visitors.

Participants from foreign countries were happy with the response they got from people.

Adrew Beattie of Scotland, who also visited India for the first time was moved with the love and response he got in Warangal. “I cannot tell you how happy I am. I’m looking forward to visit India especially TS in future,” he said.
