Telangana politicians to collect Rs 80 crore for Army welfare

This fund will be spent on the welfare of Army personnel and their families.

HYDERABAD: Making a statement on the welfare of the Army in the Assembly on Tuesday, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that they would collect Rs 80 crore for the Army Welfare Fund. This fund will be spent on the welfare of Army personnel and their families.

“The CM and ministers will contribute Rs 25,000 per year while MLAs, MLCs and MPs will contribute Rs 10,000 per year towards the fund,” KCR said adding that the employees have decided to forgo their wages for one day for the fund. The CM also announced that cash awards to the personnel who received Gallantry awards have been increased. “TS government has decided to give a substantial cash award to gallantry awardees which is much more than that is being offered in other states,” he said.

The state will pay Rs 2.25 crore to Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra awardee, while the highest amount in the country so far was being paid by Punjab of Rs 2 crore cash. For Mahavir Chakra and Kirti Chakra awardees, Punjab is giving Rs 1 crore which is the highest. United AP used to give Rs 8 lakh. State will give Rs 1.25 crore each to the Army personnel from the State who gets these awards.
TS government will pay Rs 30 lakh to Sena Medal awardee, Rs 25 lakh for mention in dispatches awardees, Rs 25 lakh for Athi Visishta Seval medalist, Rs 20 lakh for Visishta Seva medalist and Rs 5 lakh for Seva medalist.
