Telangana State budget to focus on note ban, GST: FM Etela Rajender

Etela says budget will be people-friendly and the government would see that revenue increases and expenditures come down.

KARIMNAGAR: Finance minister Etela Rajender has dropped enough hints that the State Budget for 2017-18 would be prepared taking demonetisation, GST and other factors into consideration.

Speaking to mediapersons at R&B guest house on Saturday, the minister said they would be bringing lot of financial discipline and cut down unnecessary expenditures. “We would see that our revenue increases and expenditures come down. It would be a people-friendly Budget,” he said.

Referring to water release from Flood Flow Canal, he said the government had set all the rules aside for farmers’ benefit. To protect crops like paddy and maize, water was released from SRSP for the first time through canal’s tail end to fields of Odela, Kalva Srirampur in Peddapally mandal and parts of Warangal, SRSP water was being utilised for crops cultivation at tail end areas. “It’s a great achievement and we are proud of it,” he said.

After coming to power, the government has spent `200 crore for canal lining the Lower and Upper Manair canals which where damaged, he claimed. The minister flayed opposition for misleading people on issue of irrigation projects. “Criticism should be done in a constructive manner. Congress is not able to digest that TRS is working for people’s welfare and completing all projects,” the minister said.

Etela said after Budget session 2BHK scheme would be taken up and completed on a war footing basis in erstwhile Karimnagar district and pension for single women will be given from April 1.
