HYDERABAD: Several Grade-IV employees of Telangana origin but working in the AP Secretariat staged a dharna in front of the Telangana Secretariat here on Tuesday, demanding that all of them be brought back to the Telangana Secretariat. They were arrested and taken to police station.
The employees have been agitating for more than a year now for their repatriation. Recently, one employee died of cardiac arrest in Vijayawada and the employees planned a dharna before the TS Secretariat with the body but police foiled the plan.
These Grade-IV employees, numbering around 900, are natives of Telangana and they opposed their allotment to the AP Secretariat after state’s bifurcation.The employees alleged that though employee unions’ leaders had initially assured them that they would be brought back to TS, they were now ignoring the demand.
