Hyd tops medal tally on final day of police sports meet

WARANGAL: Hyderabad city police topped the medal tally followed by Warangal city police and Grey Hounds in the second edition of the Telangana State Police sports and games meet held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Hanamkonda. Hyderabad police bagged a whopping 47 gold medals, while Warangal finished with 37 gold medals.
Police from the State’s capital won a total of  101 medals, followed by 117 medals by Warangal and 74 by Grey Hounds.

The 100 meters men gold was won by constable Survesh of Warangal Range, whereas the women 100 meters gold went to N Sujatha of Warangal city.
On the final day, the tug of war event which was won by Rachakonda police team. They defeated the powerful Telangana State Level Police (TSSP) team in a tough fight.

In women’s weightlifting competition Hyderabad range and city team bagged all the medals in 48 kg and 53 kg categories. In wrestling, Warangal city women bagged the 55kg and 60kg categories gold. In men wrestling 57kg and 74kg categorties gold was bagged by Hyderabad city. Warangal range’s M Uday Kiran bagged the overall gold medal in gymnastics.
The swimming competition was dominated by Grey hounds from Nizambad and Karimnagar range. The 1500 meters free style gold was won by Mohammad Afsar of Nizambad range,whereas the 200 meters back stroke gold was won by N Srinivas and  50 meters breast stroke gold was won by  P Suresh of the same range.
G Anil of Karimnagar range won the overall gold in archery.
