The Kerala Chief Minister, who was the chief guest at ‘Samajika Telangana’ public meeting organised by CPM, used the opportunity to take potshots at BJP and Prime Minister Modi; Marxist leaders go soft on CM KCR, call for new alliances to counter the BJP-wave

HYDERABAD: Describing the BJP Central leadership’s move of making firebrand Hindutva leader Yogi Adityanath the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh as a clear indication that BJP and RSS would continue to rise to power by inciting communal hatred among people, the CPM leadership called upon secular forces to forge new alliances to prevent the spread of ‘communal forces’ in the country.
Stating that Congress has ceased to exit as a political entity following its recent failure to form governments in Goa and Manipur despite its emergence as the single largest party in the recently held polls, Kerala Chief Minister and CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan said Congress could no longer be an ally to the Communist parties.

“Congress dug its own grave by compromising on secularism. Its case is a clear example of those who adopted a soft approach towards communal forces being buckled under them,” the Marxist leader, who was the chief guest at the ‘Samajika Telangana’ public meeting organised by the CPM at Saroor Nagar, said on Sunday evening.
Interestingly, the meeting organised on the occasion of completion of CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram’s Mahajana Padayatra, which lasted for five months covering 1,500 villages across the state, was aimed at exposing the alleged anti-people’s policies of the TRS government and achieving social justice in the state. However, it turned out to become forum for the CPM top brass to hurl brickbats at the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.
Barring a few potshots taken at Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, not only Pinarayi Vijayan, but also CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechuri took much of the time to attack BJP leadership and Prime Minister Modi. They called for ‘new alliances’ at national level to counter the BJP.

“The growth of right wing fringe groups and self-styled organisations in the name of protecting our culture is posing a threat to the freedom of commoners in the country. Minorities, Dalits and BCs are becoming the victims of Sangh Pariwar. Time has come for us to forge larger alliances with students, minorities, Dalits and other sections of people to counter neo-liberal and communal forces,” Pinarayi Vijayan said.
In a wild attack against his Telangana counterpart KCR, the Kerala CM said even after the birth of the new state, social justice was not achieved in Telangana. “While some leaders are amassing wealth, majority of the people are still in abject poverty in the state,” he said.
Earlier, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechuri wanted to know why KCR had failed to transform the new state into a ‘Bangaru Telangana’ as was promised during the statehood movement.
“BJP leadership and PM Modi made Yogi Adityanth, who hates Muslims and Dalits, as UP’s CM. This clearly shows that BJP and RSS are trying to establish Hindu Rashtra in the country, denying social justice to weaker sections,” he said. He called upon Left parties and Dalit organisations to join hands to achieve social justice.
“Lal Salaam and Jai Bhim should together say inquilab zindabad,” the CPM leader said.
