Telangana BJP MLA threatens to resign if Dhoolpet issues remain unsolved

The saffron party’s firebrand MLA T Raja Singh Lodh, who represents Goshamahal Assembly segment in Hyderabad, announced that he would quit his post.

HYDERABAD: Indicating that the BJP has decided to take an aggressive stance towards TRS government in the state as part of its plans to strengthen its base in the new state to repeat its stellar performance delivered in Uttar Pradesh, the saffron party’s firebrand MLA T Raja Singh Lodh, who represents Goshamahal Assembly segment in Hyderabad, on Monday announced that he would quit his post.

The MLA said he would be forced to take this step, if Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao fails to fulfil his promise of rehabilitating poor residents of Dhoolpet area.

In a letter written to the CM on Monday night, the BJP legislator said following government’s ban on Gudumba making, more than 3,000 poor families had stopped making Gudumba. However, the crackdown on locals without an alternative source of income had left them in lurch, he added.

He then said the government was unable to provide an alternative source of income for the Dhoolpet residents as promised by the Chief Minister earlier. “You have promised that you would personally visit this area and discuss about the problems of the people. But, you have not kept your promise. I request you to immediately pay visit to the area or else consider this letter as my resignation from the membership of the state Assembly,” the MLA told the CM in his letter.
